George Collins or simply "George" as he signs his sculptures, is a St. Johns born carver. Work on the military base in the early 50's drew his family to Labrador. George worked for years as a trades man until back injures prompted him to turn his hand to ivory & labradorite jewelry- making and finally (in 1990) to stone -sculpture.
George rapidly became a world class sculptor, carving not only Labrador soapstone, but any and all types of stone and bone with which to fashion his off-the-wall creations as well as the more traditional works. George's work has found it's way into personal and corporate collections the world over.
